He is well recognized in Hong Kong as a Patent Expert and is a Patent Committee member of the Asian Patent Attorney Association (APAA), Hong Kong and a regular Visiting or Guest Lecturer to CUHK, PolyU and CityU for IP related subjects. He is also a very active member in the start-up community and was a mentor of the HK Tech 300 program as well as being an ongoing vetting member of Cyberport’s Entrepreneurship Committee Advisory Group (ECGA).
Steven specialises in the drafting and prosecution of Patent Applications and has a background in Computer Engineering. He mainly focuses in areas such as AI, Electronics, Antennas/Circuit Designs, Control Systems and Robotics/Navigations Applications. Steven had worked directly with many Universities and Government funded research centres in Hong Kong where he, together with his team, had drafted, filed or obtained over 1000 US Patents/Patent Applications in the past decade. Steven is also a Part Time and Guest Lecturer at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and City University of Hong Kong where he teaches Patent Law, Patent Systems and Patent Drafting to Engineering and Science students. Ben has practised in IP for the last twenty-five years specialising in patents and trade marks. He is a Senior Research Fellow at Melbourne University and has taught IP courses at Melbourne University for over 10 years, including teaching the Interpretation and Criticism of Patents course since 2015. Ben is married to Anne with three children and lives in Richmond, Melbourne, Australia.

After 3 years in-house, Greg joined another major Australian patent attorney firm and was a partner there for 36 years. Greg now contracts back to the firm. Greg’s practice has centred on working for a small group of Australian clients, most having global business operations. A major part of the work has been drafting patent specifications, filing the specifications with patent applications in Australia and elsewhere, and prosecuting the applications to patent grant. Another major part of the work for these clients has been conducting patent searches and providing freedom-to-operate opinions. Greg is a Past President of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association.
This training program is ideal for those with a professional or commercial interest in Patents who wish to enhance their professional skills. The course also focuses on the proper approach to complex office actions and how to properly advise on Freedom to Operate. The use of AI in drafting patent specifications will also be considered.
